Student Counsellor Volunteer You will be providing one-to-one face-to-face and occasional one-to-one telephone counselling to adults who are living with a life-limiting illness, or are the carers or family members of someone with a life limiting illness or have been bereaved. You will be required to support at least 3 clients per week and each session lasts 50 minutes, plus administration time. These sessions are held during the day and in the evening and may take place at Longfield or community based venues across Gloucestershire. You will be attending a relevant and recognised counselling course and hold appropriate professional body student membership and be committed to attending external supervision sessions. We will be able to offer you training sessions specific to your role, ongoing training and development, line management support, as well as the opportunity to attend team meetings and develop your communication and listening skills. You must have a willingness to undertake Longfield’s Supporting Bereaved Adults training session on 14th October 2017 and other relevant training and development sessions. All these vacancies require excellent listening and communication skills and a non-judgemental attitude.
