Salary - £17,358 fte pa (£7406 pro rata £ pa)

Hours – 16 hours per week (Wednesday 1-5pm, Thursday 1-5pm and Friday 8.30am to 5pm

We are looking for an exceptional, empathetic receptionist with excellent customer service skills to join our small reception team. We are a community hospice that provides support to individuals with life limiting illnesses and those at the end of life (www.longfield.org.uk). Based in Minchinhampton, near Stroud in a fabulous, state of the art building, we employ approximately 120 staff. We have 19 retail shops, 1 warehouse and approximately 50 staff who provide end of life care. In 2016 we were rated as “good” by the CQC, with “outstanding” for care.

Reporting to the lead receptionist who will be working on different days to this role, we are looking for reception cover on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday afternoons and all day Friday. Additionally we would like the receptionist to work flexibly and work additional hours to cover the lead receptionist’s annual leave/sickness and provide occasional ad hoc reception cover on a Thursday evening when we offer an out of hours service.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Smooth running of our reception, dealing with incoming and transferring calls and emailing messages to staff and volunteers as required.
  • Handling confidential calls in a caring and sensitive way.
  • Providing a professional and welcoming reception area to all guests
  • Assist the Reception Lead with the recruitment and training of our team of volunteer receptionists.
  • Updating the patient management system.
  • Support the Reception Lead with internal room bookings
  • Assist the Reception Lead with support for external and internal clinics and groups
  • Provide some administrative support to departments as required
  • Deal with incoming and outgoing post

Skills and Knowledge

  • GCSE level (including Maths and English)
  • Caring and empathetic manner
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with patients, staff and volunteers•  Excellent telephone manner •  Good oral and written communication skills •  Good organisational and administrative skills
  • •  Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • •  Good team player
  • •  Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Desirable Experience

  • Reception/front of house services experience
