Garden Volunteer Aim of role: To provide garden help in the grounds. Purpose: The gardens are an important element in the provision of an attractive, relaxing and welcoming atmosphere, as well as providing the opportunity for diversional therapy to patients. Responsible to: Caretaker/Handyman Volunteer Tasks Help with general maintenance of Longfield's grounds Weeding; sweeping; strimming; watering. Develop various areas within the grounds in agreement with the Caretaker/Handyman Help with the vegetable garden Help maintain the flower borders Help with mowing, strimming and edging lawns and grassed areas Assist other volunteers or groups with gardening projects Essential Qualities An interest in gardening Respect for the confidential nature of the work of Longfield and the patients who visit Like being outdoors Fit and active Desirable Qualities Know a weed from a garden plant!
