The Counselling and Bereavement Team at Longfield provides a valuable service to those at a time of need. As part of our strategy, we are seeking to expand our services and support more people. To help us achieve our ambitions to “reach more people” we are seeking to recruit a motivated and forward thinking, Counselling and Bereavement Coordinator to support the recruitment, induction, training and development of our growing team of volunteers.

As Counselling and Bereavement Coordinator you will also hold a small caseload, facilitate bereavement support groups, deliver training and you will be responsible for undertaking initial assessments and allocations. You will have excellent organisational, communication and IT skills as well as the ability to support volunteers and be an excellent team player.

You will work with the Counselling and Bereavement Lead to support the expansion of the service, which will include the delivery of services both on-site at Longfield Minchinhampton and in a variety of offsite locations across the county.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience of supporting a team of volunteers.
  • Be educated to diploma level in Counselling with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience. You must have experience of bereavement and palliative / end of life care including the facilitation of bereavement support groups.
  • Have proven experience of assessing client’s needs both face to face and by telephone.
  • Hold appropriate professional body membership.
  • Be motivated, innovative and forward thinking.
  • Have excellent IT, organisation and communication skills.
  • Be an excellent team player with a good sense of humour.
  • Have knowledge of the clinical governance and quality agenda within palliative and end of life care.
  • Be available to work on a Thursday evening to support the delivery of Longfield’s evening service.
