Could you help us improve the quality of community palliative care in Gloucestershire ?

Are you passionate about supporting people with life-limiting illness to have the best quality care? Do you have current or recent clinical experience? Could you dedicate a small amount of your time to improving hospice care in Gloucestershire?

At Longfield, our vision is that everyone touched by life-limiting illness has free care and support to live well from diagnosis to the end of life.

We support adults across Gloucestershire who are living with life-limiting illness by:

  • Providing free specialist care, support and advice, from diagnosis to end of life and bereavement
  • Enabling people to live well and die in their place of choice
  • Supporting families and carers
  • Sharing our specialist knowledge with others

We are looking for people to join our Care Services Committee, to provide oversight and scrutiny of our work and support the development of our care services to reach more people. You will have current or recent experience in a clinical role and a passionate commitment to improving the quality of palliative and end of life care. You will be a good communicator and someone with strategic experience who is able to support good practice, challenge constructively and bring fresh perspectives to our work.

The Care Services Committee meets a minimum of three times per year, typically in April, August and December, and you may also be required to join any additional board meetings throughout the year. This committee is comprised of at least three trustees, one of whom acts as Chair, plus additional, co-opted members as appropriate. The Chief Executive and Director of Services also attend and there is a standing invitation to the Chair of Trustees.

These are important roles in our governance and in continuing to drive up the quality and availability of palliative and end of life care in Gloucestershire. The roles are unpaid, but reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.

If you fit the bill, and can dedicate some time to our cause, please email with an up-to-date CV. For an informal conversation about the role, please contactour Chief Executive, Andy Fletcher on 01453 886868 or
