There are many roles for volunteers at Longfield (see the base of this page for current vacancies) and people really enjoy working with us, as a 2016 survey of our volunteers revealed:
We rely on the goodwill of people like you, willing to give up your time to help others. Without your support we simply couldn’t care for so many patients. As well as knowing that you’ll be making a massive difference to your local community, there are many reasons why you might want to volunteer.

Perhaps you’re currently not working?
If you’ve just graduated or retired, taken a career break or been made redundant, volunteering can help you gain valuable new experience. You'll enjoy having a regular commitment in a busy, friendly environment on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
You might be someone who has experienced our service?
If you have been a patient or a relative or friend of someone we cared for, we’d love to welcome you as a volunteer. First-hand experience of the good work that is done at Longfield goes a long way.
You might be a student?
We have roles that can give you with valuable work experience or help you carry out voluntary work as part of an award. If you are 14 or over, we can arrange this for you.
You might be a professional in your field?
If you would like to put your professional skills to good use for Longfield, we often have projects that need specialist knowledge and may be able to match you up! You would be most welcome, so please get in touch.

Reception volunteers play an important role in welcoming visitors and have daily contact with staff and deal with incoming telephone calls. As a Volunteer Receptionist you would be the first point of contact for all external enquiries.
Reception Volunteers play an important role in welcoming our visitors. Whilst we offer day services to our patients, carers and families we also appreciate that these services are needed after hours, from 5pm – 8.30pm. If you are able to spare a few hours of your evening, then please get in touch.
Are you passionate about Longfield and the care we give and enjoy speaking to people? If so you might like to become a Community Connector. We are looking for individuals to give talks to voluntary, statutory or a business groups. Attend Longfield fundraising events and give tours of the hospice itself.

Help us provide one-to-one face-to-face or telephone support to adults who have been bereaved.
We are looking for a volunteer to support the Estate Maintenance Assistant in providing provide efficient and effective care-taking support to the Hospice including ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas
We are looking to for volunteers who are happy to help us with the vital role of cleaning the hospice. To ensure the environment for patients, staff and visitors is cleaned efficiently and maintained to a high standard and to support the whole hospitality function.
This is a busy role, working within a small and friendly team to help prepare patient, staff and visitor meals. A well as perform general kitchen duties.
We are looking for volunteers to support the delivery of bereavement support groups in Gloucestershire, at Minchinhampton and other community-based venues.
We are looking for volunteers to serve customers, sort clothes and bric-a-brac and help with shop displays in our shops, across Gloucestershire.
We need volunteers who would be willing to pick patients up from their homes and bring them to the Hospice so they can access our care.
